Deadline has learned that Morgan Freeman has been cast in COLD WARRIORS, a spy comedy from Millennium Entertainment. Raja Gosnell (SCOOBY-DOO, THE SMURFS) is attached to helm the film, which is about "a retired CIA agent (Freeman) who enlists the help of his video game programmer stepson to finish a Cold War era mission," and Gosnell will be directing from a script by IT'S A DISASTER and THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS scribe Todd Berger.
Next up for Millennium Entertainment is to find someone to play Freeman's character's stepson, a "gamer who forgoes a video game conference in Paris to join a search after he discovers that his stepfather is a former CIA agent." Deadline describes the storyline of COLD WARRIORS as "Taken meets Get Smart."
Morgan Freeman can be seen next on the big screen in LONDON HAS FALLEN, which will be in theaters on March 4, 2016, and the ever-busy actor also has three other movies set to open next year: Zach Braff's GOING IN STYLE remake (May 6th), NOW YOU SEE ME: THE SECOND ACT (June 10th), and Timur Bekmambetov's BEN-HUR (August 12th).
