The NY Times recently did a great piece on the upcoming John Hillcoat directed THE ROAD, the feature adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name, and along with it, they’ve posted two new pics of the film that give us a better idea of the film’s aesthetic. The film stars Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee as a father and son who journey across a bitter cold, post-apocalyptic USA covered in ash and strewn with the charred bodies of the dead while trying to avoid the cannibals that now inhabit the land. What’s interesting to note is that, during production, the more horrible the weather, the better it was for everyone. As soon as the sun came out, they ran the risk of falling behind schedule.
