More plot details for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel have been unveiled

We’ve known very little about Wes Anderson‘s THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. What we do know is that the director has put together a hell of a cast for this one: Ralph Fiennes, Edward Norton, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Harvey Keitel, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Saoirse Ronan, Tom Wilkinson, Mathieu Amalric, F Murray Abraham, Bob Balaban and Tony Revolori. Does it really get any better than that?

What if I could finally give you a complete picture of the story ahead with this new logline? Because we got one. Here it is:

The Grand Budapest Hotel tells of a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars and his friendship with a young employee who becomes his trusted protégé. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting, the battle for an enormous family fortune and the slow and then sudden upheavals that transformed Europe during the first half of the 20th century.

Anderson previously said that he was inspired by the films of Ernst Lubitsch and Billy Wilder TO BE OR NOT TO BE and SHOP AROUND THE CORNER in particular, and also named Rouben Mamoulian’s LOVE ME TONIGHT. The guy has interesting taste. I really do love SHOP AROUND THE CORNER. The movie is also said to take place between the 30s and 60s according to Jude Law.

Personally, I have yet to dislike any Anderson flick. I think that his approach to filmmaking his quite special. There’s something that just sort of ignites this spark in me whenever I catch one of his films. Maybe that’s fangirling a little, but I’m not ashamed. I also say more Goldblum the better.
