More Fantastic Four casting chatter; Dr. Doom said to be main villain

Another day, another can of fuel on THE FANTASTIC FOUR casting fire.

The Hollywood Reporter has dropped some insider details on the superhero reboot for Fox, stating that this is a "big week" for the film as they continue to screen test a handful of actors for key roles. Both Kate Mara and Emmy Rossum are said to have tested for Sue Storm/Invisible Woman on Tuesday, while Miles Teller is yet again named as the only actor to have tested for Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. The other name mentioned is that of Christian Cooke (ROMEO AND JULIET) who is said to have tested for Ben Grimm/The Thing, which is probably a better fit than the aforementioned Josh Gad.

Their sources also claim that Michael B. Jordan is the only actor attached to the film at this point, playing the role of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.

THR is also reporting that Dr. Doom is said to be the main villain and that the studio is chasing a big name to fill the role, although they don't specify who may be on the radar for it. They also state that the studio "isn’t ruling out switching genders for the role" which is sure to fire up some die hard fans (again). The sources also say that the casting process is ongoing and that it may continue for the coming days and weeks leading up to production, which is set to begin in March.

Between all the rumors and denials this has been one of the more controversial reboots of recent memory and has fired up fans in a big way. Director Josh Trank has stepped in to address rumors, but that's hardly the end of the road when it comes to these rumblings, as the studio secrecy war has become a battle of denials, deflections, and sometimes outright lies. All part of the game, though, eh?

THE FANTASTIC FOUR is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2015.
