Just when you thought your Cinco de Mayo hangover tale was a massacre, out comes the news of a Cinco de Mayo massacre that’s even scarier…and has less to do with drinking too much and vomiting. Steel Web Studios has sent out the word that they are producing a horror film called CINCO DE MAYO MASSACRE, and the film has begun pre-production. The film would follow a group of college kids who are traveling through the New Mexico desert when they get lost near ancient Native American burial grounds. So of course the spirits of these Native Americans are looking for some bloody revenge for the injustices that their people had received and unfortunately for the college kids they are target #1.
The film is being directed by David Quitmeyer, who also wrote the script, and the writer/director had this to say about his upcoming film: “The film is inspired by historic events and Latino folklore from the Southwestern United States. Rather than simply exploit the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo, it will explore some of the darker parts of Spanish/American history, such as the conquest of the indigenous people in the name of religion, while attempting to represent the controversy surrounding the holiday itself.”
