UPDATE: The full cast list from today’s official press release for the movie (carrying QT’s infamously misspelled title INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS): Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Brühl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak, Til Schweiger, Gedeon Burkhard, Paul Rust, Michael Bacall, Omar Doom, Sylvester Groth, Julie Dreyfus, Jacky Ido, August Diehl, Martin Wuttke, Richard Sammel, Christian Berkel, Sönke Möhring, Michael Fassbender, Mike Myers, Rod Taylor, Denis Menochet and Cloris Leachman. (Yes, Frau Blücher herself.)
Also, the official plot synopsis: INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.
Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own…
10/13/08: Quentin Tarantino is currently blasting his WWII “guys on a mission” flick INGLORIOUS BASTARDS through production in the (unrealistic?) hopes of having it ready for next May’s Cannes festival, but we’re still catching up on some of the humans involved.
Julie Dreyfus (KILL BILL, not SEINFELD) will once again be providing interpretation services, this time as a French collaborator translating for the Nazis. She probably retains her arms in this one.
In addition, Tarantino’s bar-dwelling DEATH PROOF chums Michael Bacall and Omar Doom (awesome name) will fill out the ranks of the titular Bastards/Basterds, albeit ones who don’t actually have speaking parts.
And still more — Chrisian Berkel (DAS EXPERIMENT, VALKYRIE), August Diehl (THE COUNTERFIETERS) and Jana Pallaske (SPEED RACER, EUROTRIP) will also reportedly appear in the movie.
Let the bloodshed and monologing commence!
