Sony pushes release of Jared Leto’s Morbius back to April

Jared Leto, Morbius, release, delay

Here we go again. Morbius was originally slated to hit theaters in the summer of 2020, but much like every other film out there, its release was pushed back numerous times thanks to the pandemic. It seemed as though Morbius had finally settled on a January 28th release, but Sony Pictures announced today that they will be pushing the release back once again.

Morbius will now be hitting theaters on April 1, 2022. So if you were hoping to start the new year off with some Jared Leto vampire action, you’ll have to wait a little longer. In addition to Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, the film also stars Jared Harris as Morbius’ mentor; Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Morbius’ fiancée; Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud, an FBI agent hunting Morbius; and Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Morbius’ friend who suffers from the same rare blood disease. Micheal Keaton has also reprised his role as Adrian Toomes/Vulture in the film.

The official synopsis for Morbius:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Morbius will now hit theaters on April 1, 2022… unless its release is pushed back yet again.
