Moonlight’s Andre Holland to join Abrams & King’s Castle Rock TV series

From where I'm sitting, it's been sort of a quiet week for ol' Hollywood. However, the entertainment gods have seen fit to throw another casting announcement log on the proverbial fire with news that MOONLIGHT actor André Holland has been cast in the lead role for Hulu's upcoming psychological-horror drama series from J.J. Abrams and Stephen King's CASTLE ROCK.

According to what I've read, CASTLE ROCK takes place in Stpehn King's multiverse. Honestly, I didn't even know that he had one of those. I suppose that, if so many of your stories unfold in and around the same place, your characters and themes are bound to cross paths at some point. As it turns out, CASTLE ROCK is named after a fictional town in King's native Maine. As suggested by the producers, CASTLE ROCK combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.

For CASTLE ROCK, André Holland will portray Henry, a death row attorney with a unique and quizzical history in Castle Rock, Maine. The show is expected to go into production some time this year, with Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason developing the show for television, and will act as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer.

I swear, it's like the 80s all over again, for King. An adaptation of THE DARK TOWER starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will be moseying on into theaters on August 4, 2017, meanwhile, a rebooted version of the 1990 IT miniseries will float into cinemas on September 7, 2017. I'd say that Stephen King is doing just fine for himself, these days, wouldn't you? That being said, there's also a great deal of expectations riding on each of these King-related projects. Here's hoping that they all deliver the goods, as it is my opinion that these stories are more than worthy of kick ass silver and small screen presentations.
