Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur footage teases Marvel’s new animated series

Lunella Lafayette has arrived in the first Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur footage from Marvel Studios. Here to introduce the brief clip is Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur voice actor and executive producer Laurence Fishburne, who’s eager for the “smartest person in the whole world” to make plenty of new friends.

The Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur footage starts with Moon Girl/Lunella Louise Lafayette roller-skating around a major city. After showing off some of her moves, we get our first look at Devil Dinosaur, Lunella’s friend and partner in the fight against crime. Lunella and Devil are psychically linked, and sometimes that gets them into some sticky situations.

The clip is an explosion of color and style, with hints of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse peppered throughout the action. The psychedelic palette guarantees a vibrant presentation for this spirited series, which is obviously aimed at younger audiences. That said, you’re never too old to enjoy a solid display of superheroes kicking butt, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are more than ready for action.

Here’s the official synopsis for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: The highly-anticipated series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur. After Lunella accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, the duo works together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.

Lunella Lafayette was created by writers Brandon Montclare and Amy Reeder along with artist Natacha Bustos. The comic was inspired by Jack Kirby’s Devil Dinosaur, which had Double-D joining forces with which had the early hominid Moon Boy on Dinosaur World.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur also stars Diamond White as Lunella Lafayette, Sasheer Zamata as Lunella’s mom, Jermaine Fowler as Lunella’s dad, Alfre Woodard as Lunella’s grandmother, Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella’s grandfather, Libe Barer as Lunella’s best friend Casey, Fred Tatasciore as Devil Dinosaur, and Laurence Fishburne as The Beyonder.

What do you think of the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur footage? I’ve been eager to watch this series since the moment it was announced. Lunella is one of the coolest characters to be introduced to Marvel Comics since Kamala Khan, even if she does have a bit of an attitude problem. I hope she learns some valuable lessons throughout her new animated series and puts a few bad guys away while doing it.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is expected to stomp onto the Disney Channel next summer.
