While the return of Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner in The X-Files revival was previously teased by David Duchovny, we now have confirmation from the man himself via his Twitter. That's right folks, everyone's favourite Assistant Director of the FBI will be returning to what is easily my most anticipated TV event of many years. I don't get out much.
David Duchovny had previously mentioned that William B. Davis would also be making an appearance as the Cigarette-Smoking Man, while separate reports have indicated that both Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish would return as Agents Doggett and Reyes, but these have yet to have been confirmed. Now that Pileggi is on board I'm completely satisfied; any additional returning cast members are only a bonus from here on out.
Mitch Pileggi first appeared as Assistant Director Walter Skinner at the tail-end of The X-Files' first season and has remained a fan-favourite character ever since. Pileggi's last appearance as Skinner in THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE was all too brief so I am very much looking forward to his return.
