Making a film is a tough undertaking at the best of times, let alone when you're making a blockbuster in the middle of a global pandemic. Most studios have instituted exhaustive safety protocols on their productions in order to continue shooting, and Mission: Impossible 7 is no exception. The film has already experienced several delays due to COVID-19, and as those delays can mean big money when production needs to halt, you can understand why someone might be upset when people aren't following the rules that keeps things going.
Well, the upset individual in this case is Mission: Impossible 7 star and producer Tom Cruise, and The Sun has received a leaked tape of the actor ranting at the crew after noticing that several members weren't following social distancing protocols. "If I see you do it again, you’re f***ing gone," Cruise yelled. "And if anyone in this crew does it, that’s it — and you too and you too. And you, don’t you ever f***ing do it again."
As Cruise helped to come up with the COVID-19 protocols used on the set of Mission: Impossible 7, he feels a personal responsibility to keep the film going and make sure that everyone is safe. "We want the gold standard," Cruise said. "They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us! Because they believe in us and what we’re doing! I’m on the phone with every f***ing studio at night, insurance companies, producers, and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf***ers." The actor continued, "That’s it! No apologies. You can tell it to the people that are losing their f***ing homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education. That’s what I sleep with every night. The future of this f***ing industry! So I’m sorry I am beyond your apologies. I have told you and now I want it and if you don’t do it, you’re out. We are not shutting this f***ing movie down! Is it understood?" Whether or not you argee with how Cruise responded to the crew, it's obvious that he's passionate about setting a standard for how Hollywood can produce movies during the pandemic. In addition to Tom Cruise, the cast of Mission: Impossible 7 features Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Henry Czerny, the latter of whom hasn't been seen since the very first Mission: Impossible movie, as well as newcomers Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Shea Whigham. Mission: Impossible 7 is slated to hit theaters on November 19, 2021, with Mission: Impossible 8 expected to follow on November 4, 2022.
