Mindfreak in Mandrake

While I’ve never been a huge fan of
Criss Angel or his A&E show CRISS ANGEL: MINDFREAK I can admit that he is
good at what he does; entertaining people. So it will be interesting to see him
switch gears in the entertainment industry when he helps bring the comic
MANDRAKE
to the big screen.

If you haven’t heard of Mandrake the
Magician, don’t worry about it because your probably not the only one. Mandrake
was a comic hero created in the 1930’s by Lee Falk. He was a stage illusionist
that took his talents to the streets to help battle crime and the occasional
space alien.

Angel discussed the
MANDRAKE
movie with the guys over at

Cinema Blend
. He said “I’ve
just signed on to do a movie which I’ll be shooting at the end of this year
called Mandrake. Which is based on the comic book strip. It’s gonna kind
of be like a kind of cool realm of The Crow but different of Mandrake the
magician coming to life. I’m designing and creating the visual effects for that,
as well as going to be acting in it. So that’s a very exciting prospect that I’m
looking forward to do.”

Now even though he said that he’s onboard,
there’s no word yet on whether Angel will actually play Mandrake, or simply be
in the movie. At one point d
irector Chuck Russell (A
NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS
) was in discussions to
direct this bad boy as well, but there’s also no word as to whether he’s still
involved.

which doesn’t discuss MANDRAKE any more, but is interesting if you’re
into his show MINDFREAK, click

I think Angel’s next trick should be
having this chick appear in my bed!
