Miller’s Girl trailer: Martin Freeman, Jenna Ortega star in psychological thriller

A trailer for Miller’s Girl, a psychological thriller starring Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman, has arrived online

The fact that Jenna Ortega won’t be in Scream 7 was a shocking announcement last month (apparently her absence from the sequel is due to a pay dispute), but there are still going to be plenty of chances to see her on our screens regularly. She’s set to start filming Wednesday season 2 in a few months, she’s in the crime thriller Finestkind (which just started streaming on Paramount+ last Friday), and on January 26th she’ll be back on the big screen when Lionsgate gives the psychological thriller Miller’s Girl a theatrical release. With that release date just one month away, a trailer for Miller’s Girl has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Written and directed by Jade Halley Bartlett, who is making her feature film debut here and was at one time attached to write Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Miller’s Girl sees Ortega taking on the role of a talented young writer who embarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web. As lines blur and their lives intertwine, professor and protégé must confront their darkest selves while straining to preserve their individual sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear.

Martin Freeman of Sherlock, Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe plays the teacher. Also in the cast are Dagmara Domińczyk (Succession), Bashir Salahuddin (Top Gun: Maverick), and Gideon Adlon, who recently played the final girl in the horror movie Sick – which was produced and co-written by original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson, who had an executive producer credit on the Scream sequels Ortega starred in.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg produced Miller’s Girl alongside James Weaver, Josh Fagen, and Mary-Margaret Kunze.
