UPDATE: Screen testing to begin soon. New potential stars listed at the end of the article.
With THE FANTASTIC FOUR slated to hit theaters next Summer, filming needs to begin soon to allow for sufficient post-production on the film. We have been hearing the names Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan bandied about since last year with no confirmations yet. Teller was recently linked to the John Belushi biopic in which he would portray Dan Aykroyd. He also has four films slated to hit theaters in 2014 (DIVERGENT, THAT AWKWARD MOMENT, TWO NIGHT STAND, and WHIPLASH) meaning his schedule could fill up very quickly.
It would also be ridiculous to assume that 20th Century Fox wouldn’t have been cementing their franchise reboot since these rumors first started popping up. So, the question then becomes: when are we finding out who is starring in THE FANTASTIC FOUR? When asked that very question by Punch Drunk Critics, Miles Teller said this:
“Yeah, that should be coming up in the next few weeks”
THE FANTASTIC FOUR is starting production on March 31st in Baton Rouge. It seems pretty late in the game for a major superhero movie to not have announced who is starring but with January coming to a close, that still leaves about eight weeks for announcements to be made. So far, all we know Seth Grahame-Smith and Michael Green wrote the script, Josh Trank is directing, Matthew Vaughn is producing, and Allison Williams is also rumored to star alongside Teller and Michael B. Jordan.
Variety is reporting that screen testing will begin before the end of the month to see if the rumored cast work well together. Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan will test alongside potential Sue Storm actresses Saoirse Ronan and Kate Mara. Other potential Reed Richards candidates include GAME OF THRONES stars Kit Harrington and Richard Madden. No word on any potential Ben Grimm or Doctor Doom actors.
THE FANTASTIC FOUR is scheduled to hit theaters on June 19, 2015.
