OCULUS director Mike Flanagan's upcoming nightmare-fueled supernatural thriller BEFORE I WAKE has been bumped back a few months, with Relativity moving the film from its originally scheduled May 8 release to September 25, according to Variety.
We recently brought you the first trailer for the Thomas Jane and Kate Bosworth-starring thriller, which concerns a home infested with soul-stealing demons conjured up by a kid's nightmares, and we later followed that up with some stills (peep those HERE). The film looks really twisted and I was looking forward to seeing what Flanagan had cooked up for us, but now we'll have to wait a little longer.
BEFORE I WAKE was originally slated to premiere on May 8, a date on which it would have faced competition from HOT PURSUIT, a buddy comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, as well as the second week of THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. By moving the film to September 25, the film will face off against HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 and the Robert De Niro-starring THE INTERN.
Here's the skinny on BEFORE I WAKE:
In this intense and heart-pounding supernatural thriller, Jessie (Bosworth) and Mark (Jane) decide to take in a sweet and loving 8-year-old boy, Cody. Unbeknownst to them, Cody is terrified of falling asleep. At first they assume his previous unstable homes caused his aversion to sleep but soon discover why: Cody’s dreams manifest in reality as he sleeps. In one moment they experience the incredible wonder of Cody’s imagination and in the next the horrific nature of his night terrors. To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody’s nightmares.
BEFORE I WAKE stars Kate Bosworth, Thomas Jane, Annabeth Gish, Dash Mihok, and introducing Jacob Tremblay as Cody. Look for it in theaters on September 25.
