Doctor Sleep director calls Netflix’s Dracula a wild, wicked ride

BBC and Netflix's three-episode miniseries based on Bram Stoker's DRACULA with Claes Bang hit Netflix recently. Stephen King recently took to Twitter to praise the series, tweeting: "The BBC incarnation of DRACULA (Netflix) is smart, involving, and bloody terrific. Which is to say it's terrific and VERY bloody." And now DOCTOR SLEEP and THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE director Mike Flanagan tweeted his praise as well, writing:

Moffat & Gatiss' DRACULA mini-series is WONDERFUL. I am in awe of the sheer invention of it… it is so clever, so surprising, so well done – what a wild, wicked ride. Dolly Wells is a revelation, Claes Bang is perfection. I loved it. Catch it on Netflix.

This new miniseries consists of three episodes and comes our way from the producers of SHERLOCK. But unlike that series, which is been uprooted into the modern-day, this miniseries stays (mostly) in Victorian times. That said, the mini-series is said to be

reinventing Bram Stoker’s classic story for a 21st-century audience.

This new take also stars John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, Morfydd Clark, Lujza Richter, Mark Gatiss, Jonathan Aris, Sacha Dhawan, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Catherine Schell, Youssef Kerkour, Clive Russell, Lyndsey Marshal, Chanel Cresswell, Matthew Beard, and Sarah Niles.

The television series was developed by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, based on the novel of the same name by Bram Stoker. The series is developed for broadcast and release on BBC One and Netflix. Directing the three feature-length episodes are Jonny Campbell (Westworld), Damon Thomas (Penny Dreadful), and Paul McGuigan (PUSH, LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN, VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN).
