One of my favorite current horror directors is Mike Flanagan.
The man has directed such new classics as ABSENTIA, OCULUS, OUIJA 2: ORIGIN OF EVIL, and of course, the Netflix original HUSH. I keep very much up-to-date on Flanagan so I wanted to share everything I've heard in the last week or so in one post for the sake of one quick read.
First, we have news via BD about Flanagan's I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER remake, and then via DC, we have updates on Flanagan's adaptations of Stephen King's GERALD'S GAME and Shirley Jackson's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE 10-episode series at Netflix.
Mike Flanagan on I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER remake:
I don’t have any updates on [I Know What You Did Last Summer]. I haven’t heard anything in quite a while. Our involvement ended at the script stage, which we delivered and were happy with, but I’m not sure what’s happening now. I was never attached to direct – Jeff and I were only responsible for the script. It’s a great property and it is in terrific hands with [producer] Neal Moritz, so I really hope it gets made.
Flanagan on GERALD'S GAME:
Gerald’s Game is all finished, we’re just sorting out our release strategy with Netflix. There will be more information very soon. I’m so proud of the film, and I can’t wait for it to get out into the world.
Flanagan on Netflix's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE series:
I’m a few weeks into the Writers’ Room for The Haunting of Hill House, which is an absolute blast so far. We have a team of wonderful writers, and I haven’t been this creatively excited in a while. I’m also so excited to work with Michiel Huisman, who we cast last week, and we’re working on some other casting announcements that will be really exciting. The show itself, though, is beyond exciting. It is gonna be scary!
You can check out a fun pic Flanagan posted to Twitter below, which features a famous bit of Flanagan memorabilia dropping by the HILL HOUSE writer's room, and then let us know what you think of these Mike Flanagan Updates on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
