The Midnight Sky: George Clooney’s Netflix film gets an epic final trailer

Netflix has launched its final trailer for George Clooney's The Midnight Sky. Based on Lily Brooks-Dalton's "Good Morning, Midnight," Clooney directs and stars in the upcoming sci-fi drama that follows the parallel stories of Augustine (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, and an astronaut on board the Aether spacecraft, which is trying to return home to Earth, as Augustine races to make contact with the spaceship.

Joining Clooney for his next directorial effort are fellow actors Felicity Jones, David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir, and Tiffany Boone. Each is in for quite the extraordinary experience as the crew's best-laid plans unravel, changing the trajectory of their mission in ways they could not have anticipated.

The Midnight Sky was scripted by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), but George Clooney says that one real-life twist brought about a major change to the story. "We started shooting my stuff first because we were in Iceland," Clooney told Vanity Fair back in September. “About two weeks into shooting, I get a call from Felicity, and she goes, ‘I’m pregnant.’ And I’m like, ‘Great! Congratulations!… Oh, shit.’ So then it was like, ‘Well, what do we do?'" Clooney explained that their first plan was to digitally swap Felicity Jones' head onto the body of a stand-in, but after trying that for a week, Clooney just decided to make her character pregnant.

The Midnight Sky will play in select theaters beginning on December 11 and will be available to stream on Netflix on December 23.
