Now that SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is officially greenlit and moving forward we can expect a bevy of casting announcements to come down the pipe before filming gets underway. It’s one of the more exciting aspects of the process, so it’ll be fun to hear who’s coming on board. And with that, we have our first two confirmations; Mickey Rourke and Rosario Dawson.
Here’s what Rodriguez had to say:
“[Rourke is] all excited to come back, but he’s probably the first one,” Rodriguez said. “I saw Rosario [Dawson] too. I ran into her for something else, and she’s pumped. They’ve always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun.”
A Dame To Kill For is one of the best Sin City stories by Frank Miller in my opinion. It features a ruthless beauty named Ava (who Rodriguez originally courted Angelina Jolie to play) who works over Dwight in more ways than one, causing him to enlist his old pal Marv for a little revenge. It’s a great, hard-boiled story, and I can’t wait to see it in motion.
In terms of getting Clive Owen back for the role of Dwight, Owen
“Listen, I had a fantastic time with [Rodriguez] on that movie. I thought the movie was seriously groundbreaking. I’m a big fan of it as a movie. So yeah, of course I would be interested in doing it — but I really don’t know what the state of it is.”
Rodriguez begins filming MACHETE KILLS next month and will go directly into SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Expect more casting announcements as they roll in.
