Catwoman has been brought to life on the big-screen by several talented actresses over the decades, including Lee Meriwether in BATMAN, Michelle Pfeiffer in BATMAN RETURNS, Halle Berry in CATWOMAN, Anne Hathaway in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and it was announced just two days ago that Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) had signed on to play the role in Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN opposite Robert Pattinson (THE LIGHTHOUSE).
Although it might be somewhat intimidating to step into a role played by so many before you, there is the advantage of being able to learn from your predecessors. While appearing on Good Morning America to promote the upcoming MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL, Michelle Pfeiffer said that she was "so excited" for Zoe Kravitz to take on the role, and she offered up a small but vital piece of advice for the new Catwoman.
Make sure, whilst designing the costume, they consider how you’re going to go to the bathroom — minor detail, but it's an important one.
This is a piece of advice we've certainly heard before when it comes to costumed heroes, and it's pretty much the same recommendation which Christian Bale gave to both Ben Affleck and Robert Pattinson when they each took on the role of Batman "Just be able to pee by yourself. You don’t feel much like a superhero when you can’t take a piss by yourself," Bale said. That said, how do superheroes go to the bathroom in the comic-book world? I don't know if I want to think about the Dark Knight running around in a pair of adult diapers. In addition to Pattinson and Kravitz, THE BATMAN is also set to feature Jeffrey Wright (NO TIME TO DIE) as Commissioner Gordon, but talks with Jonah Hill, who was said to be circling the role of Penguin or The Riddler, recently fell apart. THE BATMAN is slated for a June 25, 2021 release. As for Michelle Pfeiffer, she will next be seen in MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL opposite Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning on October 18th.
