Masters of Sex star Michael Sheen is, like most veteran actors, migrating behind the camera for his next feature, in which he is also set to star. The film is GREEN RIVER KILLER, based on the true crimes of Seattle-based serial killer Gary Ridgway. The script, which appeared on the 2015 Black List, was also written by Sheen and is based on the graphic novel by Jeff Jenson and Jonathan Chase.
The movie will be produced by QC Entertainment.
In the film:
Detectives in the Green River Killer case attempt to unravel both the facts behind the gruesome murders that plagued the Pacific North West for over a decade and the psychosis of the killer they find themselves face to face with.
Ridgway was a notorious murderer who killed 49 people in the 80's and 90's. The film will specifically follow detective Tom Jensen, father of the graphic novel's author.
Said Sheen:
This is a dark story but one that ultimately finds hope and meaning in that darkness. The story of Tom and Gary, and how they are bound together in time, pulled me in from the beginning and wouldn’t let go. I hope that by now bringing it to life on screen, it can make audiences feel the same way.
True crime hasn't been particularly prevalent in cinema lately, so it will be interesting to see how this interpretation comes to life. More details as the film develops!
