Michael Shannon reteams with Mud director Jeff Nichols on sci-fi film

The awesome Michael Shannon has signed on to reteam with MUD director Jeff Nichols on a sci-fi flick.

We don’t know much about the movie since the plot is being kept under wraps. But since it has been pegged as a sci-fi, we can deduce that is likely MIDNIGHT SPECIAL which is sort of a tribute to John Carpenter. Nichols wants to try something new and challenge himself. MIDNIGHT SPECIAL is said to be a “government chase movie.” Where MUD was all about movement (actors, action, dialogue), Nichols says that this film will be about light. The director is willing to test what might be difficult for him and push it with each of his films.

I’m excited to see how Nichols career shapes itself. He certainly is going to continue to attract talent as long as he keeps doing great work.
