After treating eager fans to a pillowcase full of new images for David Gordon Green's HALLOWEEN, Universal Pictures has unleashed a trailer teaser ahead of Friday's full-length trailer debut. The footage, accompanied by the franchise's iconic theme, shows a close-up of the deranged killer's emotionless mask. As the music intensifies, the familiar voice of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) asks if you believe in the boogeyman. The tease closes with a blood-curdling scream, leading us to assume that Michael Myers has caught up to his latest victim.
Directed and co-written by Green alongside Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley, HALLOWEEN hopes to deliver thrills and chills to old school horror fans as Laurie Strode prepares for a final showdown with the masked killer Michael Myers. The film is set forty years after the events of the original, with Laurie determined to protect those who're being hunted by the seemingly unkillable psychopath. Rather than explore Myers' motivations and origin, Green has said that the new feature will refrain from delving into what makes Michael tick. "So much of what makes the boogeyman horrifying to me is the mystery and almost cat-like mannerisms and curiosity of this character,” Green said in a recent statement.
HALLOWEEN arrives October 19th. Be sure to check back on Friday when the full-length trailer goes live.
