Michael Keaton & Patrick Wilson talk about their roles as comic villains

With superhero and comic-book movies being more and more prevalent than ever before, it's no surprise when actors who have played – or are going to play – comic-book characters are in the same movie together. It used to be a novelty, like when you realized The Joker and The Penguin were in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, while now the entire main cast of AMERICAN HUSTLE had been in a comic-book movie at one point.

Anyway, during an interview with the cast of THE FOUNDER for SiriusXM – which included Michael Keaton and Patrick Wilson – questions were eventually asked about their upcoming comic villain roles as Vulture from SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and Ocean Master in AQUAMAN, respectively.

Keaton spoke first:

The character actually has more relevance. I know there’s this issue that comes up about how timely The Founder is, in terms of where we are now in this country. My character, actually, is, if not more relevant — and I’m not going to say more than that,” Keaton tells Cagle. “There’s a B-story to this guy that’s kind of really interesting and really relevant. I would be lying if I said that’s why I took it, but as we talked about it and did, I went, ‘Whoa, there’s some layers to this guy.’ … This director’s [Jon Watts] is a very bright guy, and he wanted to bring this issue out. A lot of people are going to like him more than they probably want to, would be my guess.

Wilson was a bit more cagey about his role as Ocean Master (which makes sense as that film is still in early development), but mentioned the fact that Ocean Master is indeed Aquaman's half-brother in the film (as he was in the comics) and that, "it’s nice to don the tights every now and then".

Keaton then retorted, "Vulture will destroy you, Ocean Master!"; however, Nick Offerman (who played one of the original McDonald's in THE FOUNDER) broke it up before  (presumably) fists could go flying.

So do you guys agree with Keaton? Would Vulture beat Ocean Master? Personally, I think he's crazy.

Either way, THE FOUNDER is currently in theaters, while SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING will swing into theaters July 7th, 2017 and AQUAMAN will swim to theaters October 5th, 2018.
