While all the talk about Michael Keaton as Vulture in the next Spidey flick has been exactly that, it looks like Marvel president Kevin Feige felt it was finally time to lock him in and confirm that he is, in fact, playing The Vulture. He said as much to the Toronto Sun when talking about what villains we can look forward to in future Marvel movies. Take a look!
Kevin Feige on which villains we can look forward to in future Marvel films:
We’ve had a wish list and most of them in the near-term are coming together. Cate Blanchett is playing Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Michael Keaton’s Vulture in Spider-Man is something. And of course, finally, we’re showcasing Josh Brolin’s Thanos (in Avengers: Infinity War). We’re looking forward to that very much.
If you're looking for a little more Spidey news, The Hollywood Reporter has a couple of pieces up with Tom Hollan and Zendaya. Holland himself went on to say that he was signed up for 6 films total (that probably include spin-offs like CIVIL WAR). Zendaya, on the other hand, is currently playing "Michelle", which is said to be the Mary Jane of the newer films. While that hasn't been confirmed, she did clarify a bit about her character and whether or not her and Peter Parker or romantically involved.
Tom Holland on the number of films he's signed up for:
They give you options, and those could be exercised whenever. Like a cameo in Avengers. I’m unclear as to which movies, though. I do know I have three Spider-Man movies and three solo movies contracted. But if you have another movie, Marvel is so good at working around it. They’re very respectful of your life, really. They understand that you have to work on other movies, and they try and fix it up so you can work around each other.
Zendaya on whether or not her character is romantically involved with Peter Parker:
No [laughs]. My character is not romantic. My character is like very dry, awkward, intellectual and because she’s so smart, she just feels like she doesn’t need to talk to people, like “My brain is so far ahead of you that you’re just not really on my level.” So she comes off very weird. But to me, she is very cool because she’s deep. She’s always thinking about something, always reading. I like that. And I also like that I don’t really have to do anything for hair and makeup. I just get to walk in and walk out.
You can check out the THR pieces HERE. If the photoshoot is any indication (one of the pictures you can see above), it looks like those two leads will have all of the charisma and then some. The entire cast for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING looks fantastic, so here's hoping that Marvel and Co. delivers a movie that lives up to what fans enjoyed about Sam Raimi's original flicks.
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING opens in theaters on July 7, 2017.
