Michael Jai White talks his new film As Good As Dead, Blood and Bone, Black Dynamite, and more!

We are grateful to Mr. Michael Jai White for taking the time to sit down with us so that we may bring you this interview where we talk about his new film, As Good As Dead, his past projects (like Black Dynamite), and a couple of hints about what he’s been working on and what we can look forward to!

One of the most prolific names in action cinema is Michael Jai White. He made his incredible mark by taking on a complex role in his breakthrough performance as Mike Tyson in the HBO original film, Tyson, which can still be viewed on HBO Max. He was the first and only actor to date to bring the cult comic superhero Spawn to life on the big screen. And today, you can see him in his new action film, in which he stars and wrote, titled As Good As Dead.

The plot synopsis for As Good As Dead, per IMDb, reads,

“Bryant (Michael Jai White), a man with a mysterious past moves to a small Mexican border-town to start over and live the simple life. While there, he reluctantly befriends a troubled local teen who has recently lost his mother and is being recruited by the local street gang. Bryant keeps the boy on the straight and narrow by introducing him to martial arts and taking on the role of mentor, teacher and father-figure. As the story unfolds we learn that Bryant is much more than a man who moved to Mexico to live the simple life. Bryant is running from a complex, violent past that he believes he left behind. As his past catches up with him, he is forced into a life and death struggle to clear his name, save the boy and get back all that he left behind.”

As Good As Dead also stars Tom Berenger, Luca Oriel, Guillermo Iván, Gabriela Quezada, Michael Capon, Louis Mandylor, and Michael Jai’s wife, Gillian White. The film is directed by R. Ellis Frazier, who had recently collaborated with other action vets like Dolph Lundgren and Gary Daniels.
