Michael Giacchino will return to the MCU to score Spider-Man: Homecoming

Marvel has spared no expense in getting incredible composers like Danny Elfman and Alan Silvestri to put down some orchestrations to their superhero beat-downs. Though many have pointed out the franchise hasn't succeeded much in the way of creating a memorable, tremendous score that isn't stopping the studio from bringing in heavy-hitters to lend their silky sounds to the Marvel universe. One of those names is Michael Giacchino (STAR TREK, SUPER 8), and he is having such a good time, in fact, that he's even going in for seconds.

The Oscar-winning composer recently did the music for DOCTOR STRANGE, and there has since been rumblings he may return for another one of the studio's hot upcoming properties—SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. He then took to Twitter to confirm said rumors.

This is not totally surprising news, because not only did Giacchino create the musical musings for STRANGE, but you will also hear his Siren sounds in another installment of a massive Disney property—ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY. One thing Giacchino can say now is there is not a galaxy too far or a dimension too vast he can't inject his sounds into. He's everywhere…and nowhere.

I like Giacchino’s music quite a bit, and though I wouldn’t say he broke any new barriers with STRANGE he certainly gave the film one of Marvel’s more interesting pieces. The kaleidoscopic, 70’s guitar-laden theme gives fans a more surreal, transcendent alternative to the normally bombastic scores of Marvel movies. I mean, nothing wrong with those at all, it's just sometimes you need a slow jam that allows you to turn down the lights, and have a one-person dance party. I would never do this, but I know a guy…

You can hear Michael Giacchino's work in the upcoming movie ROGUE ONE out December 16.
