Last month saw the release of Danny Boyle's STEVE JOBS teaser trailer, which did exactly that. The Aaron Sorkin (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) scripted film is said to be set during the backstage of three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac. This more thorough theatrical trailer suprisingly doesn't feel that self-contained, and after a minute, you'll most likely forget you're even watching Michael Fassbender.
While I don't have any particular fascination for Steve Jobs, the trifecta of Boyle/Sorkin/Fassbender is enough to pull anyone into the story they have to tell. Furthermore, and judging from THE SOCIAL NETWORK, Sorkin isn't afraid to stray from the "source material" to tell a better story. That's exactly how it should be, as opposed to the ho hum biopics we end up getting most of the time (Kutcher's JOBS flick comes to mind). It would have been great to see Sorkin and David Fincher team up again for this flick, but Danny Boyle's not missing a beat!
STEVE JOBS will open in theaters on October 9, 2015.
