Starring Michael Fassbender (X-MEN: APOCALYPSE), Rebecca Ferguson (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION), J.K. Simmons (WHIPLASH), Charlotte Gainsbourg (INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE), and Val Kilmer (HEAT), the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Jo Nesbø's "The Snowman" already seems too good to pass up, and a recently released international trailer for the upcoming film has certainly nailed that point home.
Directed by Tomas Alfredson (LET THE RIGHT ONE IN), the crime-thriller finds Fassbender playing Harry Hole (yes, that's his name), a detective who is on the hunt for an elusive serial killer who has been brutally murdering woman and taunting the police. Teaming up with Katrine Bratt (Rebecca Ferguson), Hole hopes to find the killer and uncover the truth before it's too late. I haven't read "The Snowman" myself, but I fear that the above trailer reveals more of the proceedings than it should. Even so, I'm a sucker for a well-crafted serial killer thriller and THE SNOWMAN looks like it has the potential to be quite good indeed.
The official synopsis for THE SNOWMAN:
When an elite crime squad’s lead detective (Fassbender) investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, he fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. With the help of a brilliant recruit (Ferguson), the cop must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.
THE SNOWMAN will hit theaters on October 20, 2017.
