Michael Bay built a second Stonehenge to blow up in Transformers 5

I doubt that Michael Bay has ever met an historical monument that he hasn't thought about blowing up. The latest film in the TRANSFORMERS franchise will soon be upon us, and like the rest, it will feature plenty of explosions and robot mayhem. According to Laura Haddock, who co-stars in TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT, even Stonehenge wasn't safe from Michael Bay's itchy trigger finger. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Haddock said that Michael Bay recreated the ancient monument after they wouldn't let him blow up the real one. I'm not sure how serious he was when he suggested that they blow up the actual Stonehenge, but Laura Haddock says that the "question was most definitely asked." Of course it was.

I mean the man took a whole crew and cast and unit to Stonehenge and then by the time he had made it down the road, built another Stonehenge just so he could blow it up.

Although the TRANSFORMERS movies are filled their fair share of green-screen and CG creations, Haddock praised Michael Bay for keeping as much of it practical as he could, especially the explosions.

Michael’s sets are practical, so you would think that maybe 90 percent of this film is done on green screen, and it’s really not. He loves an explosion. He absolutely loves them, so if he can use them safely, he will. Often you’re running through what feels like a genuine … battlefield. Something that kind of builds your adrenaline. You’re absolutely experience what it feels like to have an explosion go off just behind you. And you’re just running, running for your life. Some days, you go home and you’re just covered in, you know, bruises and cuts, and you just think, ‘That was one of the best days I’ve ever had.'
