Deadline has reported that Michael Bay is set to direct a bounty hunter action drama TV series, but sadly, it will be of the Earth-bound variety. Still, a man can dream.

The project was created and written by Joe Barton, with Michael Bay on board to direct. Coming from A+E Studios, in association with Range Studios and Amazon Studios, the untitled series “centers on an American bounty hunter working South of the border who finds himself in a desperate fight for survival when the man he’s been chasing down lands them both in trouble with the Mexican cartel.

I was inspired about 5 years ago hanging out down in Costa Rica, with a former US Federal Agent, who surfs every day, living the good life,” Michael Bay said of the Bounty Hunter series. “He supports his fun, relaxed lifestyle in Costa Rica by tracking down ‘Bad Gringos’ hiding out down in South America.” Bay will executive produce the series alongside Joe Barton. “I couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Michael Bay and Amazon to bring this thrilling and action-filled show to the screen,” Barton said.

Although Michael Bay has executive produced several TV series over the years, including Black Sails, The Last Ship, and Jack Ryan, this will be his first time directing for television beyond the music videos that launched his career. Michael Bay’s last film was Ambulance, an action thriller which starred Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Jake Gyllenhaal as two brothers who pull off the biggest bank heist in Los Angeles history, but when their getaway goes spectacularly wrong, the desperate brothers hijack an ambulance with a wounded cop clinging to life and ace EMT Cam Thompson (Eiza González). In a high-speed pursuit that never stops, the brothers must evade a massive, city-wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape L.A. has ever seen.
