Michael B. Jordan squares off against the past in new Creed II trailer

MGM and Warner Bros. Entertainment have come out swinging today with the debut of a new trailer for CREED II, the highly-anticipated sequel to BLACK PANTHER director Ryan Coogler's 2015 sports drama starring Michael B. Jordan (FRUITVALE STATION, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS), Sylvester Stallone (ROCKY, DEMOLITION MAN), and Tessa Thompson (THOR: RAGNAROK, ANNIHILATION).

When the bell rings for CREED II, Jordan's Adonis Creed will be made to confront the past by defending his past and future legacy against Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago. With a ferosious new foe looming at the corner of the ring, Adonis must look to his seasoned trainer, Rocky Balboa (Stallone), for guidance, as he navigates new challenges and emotions on and off the mat.

In the trailer, we see Adonis slipping away from his loved ones as his oncoming bout against Viktor consumes his every step. With his opponent posing such an immense threat to both his ego as well as his livlihood, the champ will have to make a choice between his pride, the title, and living to fight another day. In my opinion, this movie looks to be packing a lot of emotional gut punches, and stands to become one of the best chapters of the Rocky franchise. As a fan of the franchise since the mid-'80s, you can bet that I'll be pulling up ringside for this one. The demons of Balboa's past have come to haunt his student, and I am ready shout and rage as the war between champions goes down.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr. (A DIFFERENT TREE, THE LAND) from a script penned by Cheo Hodari Coker (LUKE CAGE, NOTORIOUS), CREED II will once again star Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, and Tessa Thompson, who'll be joined by Dolph Lundgren (ROCKY IV, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER), Florian Munteanu (BOGAT), Wood Harris (ANT-MAN, REMEMBER THE TITANS), Russell Hornsby (FENCES, MEET THE PARENTS) and Phylicia Rashad (FOR COLORED GIRLS, CREED) for the next round of blood, sweat and tears.

CREED II will touch gloves and come out swinging in theaters on November 21st.
