Michael B. Jordan says The Fantastic Four uniforms are “containment suits”

Tha Fantastic Four 2015 Josh Trank Banner Michael B. Jordan

THE FANTASTIC FOUR is less than a year from release and we have virtually nothing to show for it. No set photos, a couple of unsubstantiated looks at The Thing and Doctor Doom, and a lot of word from the cast. Then, just over the last couple of weeks, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan have been sharing references to the grounded approach to Josh Trank's film with Jordan shedding new insight onto the costumes they will be wearing.

Jordan spoke with ABC News and added a new glint to these revised costumes.

It’s a new look. We are all in containment suits. It’s gritty. It’s a gritty film.

Containment suits, huh? The only thing that jumps to mind is the rebooted white costumes the Fantastic Four wore after the comic book death of Johnny Storm. But, they could also just be a reference to the overall space suit the team wears in every version of their origin which eventually becomes their uniform. In this case, rumors have had the team not being formed in a space mission but in some sort of a lab. That would explain the suits.

Jordan shared a little more.

The costume process definitely took some time to get in and out of that thing, especially since I was bulking up. It was a little more snug during filming. We got through it man. It was a process, but we did it. It was hard work. I’m really excited about it, everyone is really happy. We worked hard for three months, put a lot of time into it. The script is very grounded and relatable to everybody, as much as you can. You really get a chance to grow with these characters. It’s an origin story. You get to discover these abilities – these disabilities rather – and grow with them.

There are those words again: grounded and relatable. What that actually means we will have to see when the film finally debuts footage. Remember, Marc Webb kept calling THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN grounded and more realistic and look how that turned out.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR hits theaters on August 7, 2015.
