The eighties were an era of excess. The party never stopped, the music was awesome and the fashions – well, they were bold to say the least. No show ever as perfectly encapsulated its era as Miami Vice, which merged the music and style of MTV with a hardcore police procedural, with none other than Michael Mann as its show runner. It made icons out of its two stars, Don Johnson as Sonny Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Rico Tubbs and ran for five seasons. Are all of theme winners? No. Once Michael Mann left in season three, things got uneven, but as well show you in our latest instalment of "Gone But Not Forgotten" – when this show was good it was great!
