We're just under a month away from finally discovering whether GHOSTBUSTERS is a better film than its critics seem to think it is or if it's merely another reboot which misses the mark. Given the amount of negativity surrounding Paul Feig's new film, I honestly wouldn't have been shocked to find out that the actors enthusiasm for the Ghostbusters had diminished, but Melissa McCarthy recently told THR that she's absolutely up for more time spent busting ghosts with Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.
I would do 102 more of these. I will literally show up for [director] Paul Feig and these women no matter what. I'll show up for plays in a backyard.
Fellow Ghostbuster Leslie Jones added, "well, shit, as many as they do, I'm there." Who knows whether GHOSTBUSTERS will perform well enough to warrant a sequel, but regardless of how it's received by the public, I really wouldn't be surprised if it did. Director Paul Feig doesn't have a sequel clause in his contract, but like his cast, he's open to returning for GHOSTBUSTERS 2. “It’s such a fun world, the sky is the limit, but I think everyone wants to see how this one is going to go first.” Wise words.
GHOSTBUSTERS will hit theaters on July 15, 2016.
