Melancholia named Best Picture by the National Society Of Film Critics

Awards season is in full swing, and the usual suspects always come up with nominations and such. However in what might be a surprise announcement, Lars Von Trier’s MELANCHOLIA, a film we’ve been covering here at AITH was named Best Picture. The awards are announced every January, with several categories.

The ‘Society’ is comprised of 58 film critics from around the country, and this marks their 46th annual awards. The actual award outcomes are rather interesting, with DRIVE even scoring a win for Albert Brooks. Check out the winners for the big awards below.

Interesting to see that star Kirsten Dunst scored a win and Von Trier came in third position. Also nice to see Brad Pitt getting some accolades for his work with two outstanding performances, proving that he does have some solid acting chops.
