Meghan Ory, Jesse Metcalfe, & Virginia Madsen join cast of Dead Rising

Last month we learned that LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS helmer Zach Lipovsky had been tapped to helm the upcoming adapation of the video game DEAD RISING, later learning that SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR's Dennis Haysbert had joined the cast in an unspecified role. Now Deadline is reporting that three more have signed on to star in Legendary Entertainment and Sony-owned Crackle's film which is now known as DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER.

Deadline is reporting that Jesse Metcalfe ("Desperate Housewives"), Meghan Ory ("Once Upon a Time"), Virginia Madsen (CANDYMAN, SIDEWAYS) have joined the cast of DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER, which begins principal photography today in Vancouver.

Lipovsky is directing from a script by Tim Carter, based on the bestselling Capcom franchise that’s spawned two sequels and sold 7.6 million copies worldwide to date. As in the vidgame, DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER is set during a zombie apocalypse.

When a mandatory government vaccine fails, a group of survivors must evade infection while hunting down the root of the epidemic, which leads back to a government conspiracy.

Legendary Digital and Crackle are producing the 90-minute feature for the latter's digital channel. The film will then be unleashed on VOD, DVD and TV, though no dates have been set.
