With Meg 2: The Trench currently in theatres (you can read our review HERE), The Asylum has dropped a trailer for their latest mockbuster – Megalodon: The Frenzy! While Meg 2 features three giant sharks, some lizard-like creatures, and a giant octopus, Megalodon: The Frenzy unleashes five giant sharks into the open sea – and Asylum fans in the U.S. will have the chance to see the action play out on the big screen starting on August 25th!
Megalodon: The Frenzy is set to receive a digital release this Friday, August 18th as well, so fans will be able to watch it at home for a week before it reaches theatres.
Directed by Brendan Petrizzo (Devil’s Triangle) from a screenplay by Ryan Ebert (San Andreas Mega Quake), Marc Gottlieb (Ape vs. Mecha Ape), and Bill Hanstock (3-Headed Shark Attack), the film has the following synopsis: When a frenzy of five Megalodons torment the open ocean, the stakes have never been higher.
Jessica Chancellor, Jeff Daniels (a newcomer, not the Dumb & Dumber Jeff Daniels), Alex Trumble, Javier Luna, Ben Formella, Chase Hamilton, Jordan Hubbard, Victoria Grant, Sharon Desiree, Liam Hawley, Jordy Tulleners, and Sarah Fraser star alongside Eric Roberts, Caroline Williams from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and Diana Prince, a.k.a. Darcy the Mail Girl from The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs.
Our friends at Bloody Disgusting got the first look at the trailer for Megalodon: The Frenzy and also learned that the film will be showing at the following theatres:
Laemmle Glendale – Los Angeles, CA
Hickory Ridge Cinemas – Cleveland, OH
Trylon Cinema – Minneapolis, MN

It has been a while since I’ve watched a movie from The Asylum, and Megalodon: The Frenzy looks like it could provide some goofy fun. I might have to check this one out, especially since Caroline Williams and Darcy are in it. Eric Roberts is always awesome, and he brings that awesomeness to a whole lot of movies these days.
