Denis Villeneuve's SICARIO just keeps looking better and better doesn't it? After the one-two punch of PRISONERS and ENEMY, Villeneuve had turned me into a fan for life so I've made sure to keep up with all of his upcoming projects. His latest film, SICARIO, premiered several months ago at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival to great reviews and now Lionsgate has released a kick-ass new trailer for the film.
Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benicio Del Toro staring in a tough unflinching look at the war on drugs as directed by Denis Villeneuve and lensed by the great Roger Deakins? Hell yeah! Villeneuve's next projects include the sci-fi drama STORY OF YOUR LIFE with Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams as well an untitled sequel to Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER.
Lets take a look at what SICARIO is all about:
After rising through the ranks of her male-dominated profession, idealistic FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) receives a top assignment. Recruited by mysterious government official Matt Graver (Josh Brolin), Kate joins a task force for the escalating war against drugs. Led by the intense and shadowy Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), the team travels back-and-forth across the U.S.-Mexican border, using one cartel boss (Bernardo Saracino) to flush out a bigger one (Julio Cesar Cedillo).
SICARIO opens in limited release on September 18, 2015 before opening wide on September 25, 2015.
