Meet the family in this new featurette for Chan-Wook Park’s Stoker

Ever since OLDBOY, I will watch anything from director Chan-wook Park. I sat through the bizarre I’M A CYBORG, BUT THAT’S OK because I knew there would be something special there. LADY VENGEANCE and THIRST are two favorites as well and I am hoping his first foray into English-language film-making will yield great results. STOKER has looked unlike any other movie since the first teasers hit last year. And now it is finally getting close to a release date.

This new featurette introduces us to India (Mia Wasikowska) and her creepy Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode) and her clueless mother (Nicole Kidman). The results are surely going to be shocking and visually beautiful. Here we get a glimpse into what we have in store for us when the movie hits theaters.

Plot:

After India’s father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother. Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Our very own Chris Bumbray gave the movie a great review. I am looking forward to audiences who shy away from foreign films to finally embrace this Korean master. Hopefully this is the start to a long career in North America.

STOKER opens in limited release on March 1st and The Film Stage has a list of theaters where you can catch it.
