Meet Taika Waititi’s Korg in new Thor: Ragnarok clip

This week has been a great ol’ time for anyone super excited for THOR: RAGNAROK. The first reactions have been astounding; the first clip dropped; Mark Ruffalo says this the beginning of a new character arc for Hulk, acting as a bit of a trilogy and; Now we have the newest clip that was shown last night, giving us our best look yet at the character Korg – played using motion capture by director Taika Waititi. The character and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) are seen in the armory, perhaps to choose a weapon for a gladiator battle, and the God of Thunder is fondly remembering his recently-destroyed hammer, Mjolnir. If you’re wondering if it’s a funny bit, well then you should feel silly. Of course it’s funny. Waititi is playing an oddly casual rock creature, for god’s sake.

The humor has a very conversation, improvisational feel to it, with Hemsworth confirming after the clip that the scene was meant to be much shorter but they were left to play around a bit more, extending it to what we just saw. Apparently, this is how much of the movie went, which means we can expect more of the funnier scenes to have this loose, bantering vibe that could make it, at the very least, the funniest Marvel movie to date. Move over Porg from STAR WARS, because it's Korg who's going to own the holiday season!

THOR: RAGNAROK arrives November 3 with Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Tom Hiddleston, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba and more.
