Filming is underway for AMC's Preacher pilot, and last night co-director Seth Rogen tweeted a first look at the upcoming small screen adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic series. The behind-the-scenes image features Dominic Cooper's Jesse Custer hanging out with Arseface (Rake's Ian Colletti) in (I'm assuming here) Arseface's bedroom. But if it is his room, there's one problem with this pic: no Nirvana posters.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are directing Preacher from a script they wrote with Breaking Bad scribe Sam Catlin, who is also serving as the series' showrunner. Some Preacher fans (including yours truly) are worried that the show will deviate too far from the comics, but last year Rogen explained why he doesn't want it to be exactly like the source material.
We’re definitely trying to expand on some of the ideas in the comic and make it that…we love most of the main cornerstones of the comic but we’re trying to make it that even if you’ve read the comic you should not know exactly what to expect from the TV show.
If ordered to series, Preacher will premiere on AMC sometime in 2016.
