The next installment in the GHOSTBUSTERS franchise is a family affair not just due to the fact that it's being directed by Jason Reitman, son of GHOSTBUSTERS and GHOSTBUSTERS II director Ivan Reitman, but also because there's a family at the center of the story Jason Reitman has crafted with co-writer Gil Kenan.
Now all three members of that family have been cast. Carrie Coon is playing the single mother, with Finn Wolfhard as her son and the newly announced Mckenna Grace as her daughter.
Grace, who genre fans may have seen in the Netflix series Haunting of Hill House, is in two high profile releases this year. She played the young Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL, and will soon be seen in ANNABELLE COMES HOME.
Details on the new GHOSTBUSTERS are being kept secret, but we do know that the film exists in the world of the first two movies, not the 2016 reboot, and focuses on
a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.
Reitman shared pictures of the cinematic family he has assembled for the film on his Twitter account.
GHOSTBUSTERS is heading toward a July 10, 2020 release.
