Actor Max Martini may be familiar to genre fans for his roles taking on monsters and supernatural beings in PACIFIC RIM and SPECTRAL, and now he is adding another genre credit to his filmography. He has signed on to play the father of the title character in SINISTER II director Ciaran Foy's psychological horror film ELI.
Written by CHEAP THRILLS' David Chirchirillo, with revisions by THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE's Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, ELI followsÂ
an 11-year-old who moves into a "clean house" to treat his autoimmune disorder. Unable to leave, Eli soon realizes that the house, and the doctor who runs it, are more sinister than they appear.
Charlie Shotwell is playing Eli himself, with Kelly Reilly as his devoted mother, Sadie Sink as a girl who befriends Eli, and Lili Taylor as Dr. Isabelle Horn, the immunologost treating Eli.
Martini's father character "moves to the isolated treatment facility with his wife after dealing with his son's mysterious illness for two years."
ELI is being produced by Trevor Macy and John Zaozirny. Matt Alvarez serves as executive producer, with Melinda Nishioka and David O'Leary as co-producers.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 4, 2019.
