Matthew Vaughn plotting Kick-Ass reboot and Kingsman Universe via new studio

Matthew Vaughn, director of such films as LAYER CAKE, KICK-ASS, and the KINGSMAN series has announced the setup of Marv Studios, "the modern version of what a studio can be," says Vaughn. As a part of the Marv Studios initiative, Vaughn is planning a reboot of the KICK-ASS series, which may or may not involve the familiar Dave Lizewski character originally played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the original set of films. Rather than re-tread familiar ground, Vaughn expressed that he's quite interested in bringing Patience Lee to the franchise, an African-American single mother who now holds the Kick-Ass mantle in the comics. He's also said that a Hit-Girl movie is also up for grabs, and could feature an older Mindy Macready, or a younger version as she grows up alongside Big Daddy.

“We’re going to reboot Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl,” Vaughn exclusively told Empire. “Look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues.”

In addition to the KICK-ASS revival, Vaughn also wants to create a third film in Mark Millar's Kingsman series. He says that the third chapter would serve as "the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship." If that's not enough for you, don't worry, a Kingsman spinoff is also a possibility. In fact, that project already has a name in KINGSMAN: THE GREAT GAME, which would explore the spy organisation in the early 1900s. Both films would shoot back-to-back. What's that? You want more? Oh, I'll give you more. There's also an eight-hour Kingsman TV show, and a Statesman film following the world of Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry’s American agents. Boy howdy, that's a lot of Kingsman. We're gonna need more whiskey. Barkeep!

Lastly, Marv Studios will also co-produce Paramount's ROCKETMAN, the biopic based on the life and times of Elton John. Taron Egerton (THE KINGSMAN SERIES) is already set to star as the iconic rock 'n' roll sensation, with Dexter Fletcher on board to direct. In talking about the film, Vaughn said that fans should expect for it to be "the first R-rated musical", with "drugs, sex, and rock 'n' roll."
