Could he be any more sorry? Matthew Perry has announced that he will remove his seemingly odd, random and uncalled for Keanu Reeves bashing from future printings of his memoir.

Speaking at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books event, Perry admitted yet again that he made a seriously bad call of judgment by wishing Reeves ill will in his 2022 book, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” “I said a stupid thing. It was a mean thing to do…I pulled his name because I live on the same street…I’ve apologized publicly to him. Any future versions of the book will not have his name in it.”

The move comes after Perry rightly received backlash for the following statement in the book: “It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?” Perry would soon apologize after the book hit shelves, saying, “I’m actually a big fan of Keanu…I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.” Picking Reeves of all celebrities was quite a bold move considering he’s generally regarded as one of the most genuine, beloved and hardest-working actors in the industry today.

The memoir itself is filled with some terrific tales, many humorous but some graphic that detail his hospital stays and procedures, in addition to his stints in rehab. Perry has been open about his drug addictions before, even saying they caused him to have trouble remembering filming multiple seasons of Friends. Perry would be nominated for two Primetime Emmys related to the show: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for 2021’s Friends: The Reunion, serving as an executive producer.

While Keanu Reeves hasn’t explicitly made a comments about Matthew Perry’s words, insiders previously reported that he felt they came out of “left field.”

How do you feel about Matthew Perry removing his comments about Keanu Reeves from future pressings of his memoir? Why do you think he included it?
