As I still haven't gotten around to reading Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series (I know, I know), I'm still not too sure what to make of Nikolaj Arcel's big-screen adaptation. After what seemed like an abnormally long wait, the first official trailer for THE DARK TOWER finally debuted earlier this month. Perhaps because of my unfamiliarity with the novels, I wasn't as impressed with the trailer as I was hoping, but the inclusion of Idris Elba as Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black practically guarantees that I'll be checking THE DARK TOWER out regardless.
Speaking of the charismatic duo, McConaughey and Elba debuted two new posters on Twitter with their own respective comments.
"Death always wins."
"Not today."
They seem to be sticking with the style laid out in the first posters for THE DARK TOWER, but I hope that we'll get something a little less generic before the film actually premieres. Fingers crossed.
The official synopsis for THE DARK TOWER:
Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) is a young 11-year-old adventure seeker who discovers clues about another dimension called Mid-World. Upon following the mystery, he is spirited away to Mid-World where he encounters the lone frontiersman knight Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), who is on a quest to reach the ‘Dark Tower’ that resides in End-World and reach the nexus point between time and space that he hopes will save Mid-World from extinction. But with various monsters and a vicious sorcerer named Walter Padick (Matthew McConaughey) hot on their trail, the unlikely duo find that their quest may be difficult to complete.
THE DARK TOWER is set for an August 4, 2017 release.
