Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe, and Pedro Pascal set to star in The Great Wall

Matt Damon typically chooses good roles, but his newest sounds like it could be his biggest yet.

We've brought you this news before but now it's official; Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe, and Pedro Pascal have just been confirmed for Legendary’s new film THE GREAT WALL which is to be directed by Zhang Yimou (HERO).

Andy Lau, Jing Tian, Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Lin Gengxin, Zheng Kai, Chen Xuedong, Huang Xuan, Yu Xintian, Liu Qiong and Wang Junkai will all have roles in the project which is being called the largest film ever to be shot entirely in China for global distribution. THE GREAT WALL is the first production to come forth from of the formation of Legendary East, which was set up several years ago with the intention of crafting big-budget tentpole movies specifically for China's film market.

THE GREAT WALL will be set in 15th century China and follow a group of British warriors who stumble across the Great Wall as it’s under construction. They soon learn that the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols, but something else far more inhuman and dangerous.

Despite the larger star power attached to THE GREAT WALL, I'm actually most excited to see Pedro Pascal move on to bigger things. Most of us know him from his work on Game of Thrones and I'm quite pleased that he's going to be seen by a wider audience. Here's hoping we won't be getting another 47 RONIN when THE GREAT WALL hits theaters on November 23, 2016.
