Matt Damon will be hunted to the ends of the Earth for what he is going to do in the trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium

I knew after seeing DISTRICT 9 that Neill Blomkamp was going to great things in the world of Science Fiction cinema. He’s definitely proving my instincts correct with this trailer for ELYSIUM.

We’ve known very little about this movie, and just got a poster for it yesterday. It was all just a big mystery that has finally been revealed. The trailer is exceptional. We are introduced to a world that could only be created in fiction: no disease, no negativity, no war– a Utopia. Then find that if you don’t have the credentials or the money, that you cannot have access to a place that is known as ELYSIUM. The undesirables are left on Earth where things are not so great. In an effort to make things right, Matt Damon risks his life to obtain some balance to the rest of the society.

Synopsis: In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.
