A few days ago, a mysterious video showed up online, showing legendary genre filmmaker John Carpenter excitedly taking in a seat in a movie theatre… and judging by the familiar roar that was heard at the end of the video, it sounded like he was sitting down to watch a Godzilla movie. As it turns out, that video was made as a promo for an upcoming event called Masters of Monsters – which is indeed all about Carpenter watching and talking about Godzilla and other kaiju movies!
This event is coming to us from Shout! Factory TV, TokuSHOUTsu, Scream Factory TV and Shout! Cult – and will be streaming at all of those links. Here’s the information:
John Carpenter, director of films released by Shout! He sits down to present his 4 favorite monster films directed by Ishiro Honda: Godzilla, The Uncut Japanese Original (Gojira), Rodan, Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster, and The War of the Gargantuas. John Carpenter will make appearances throughout to discuss his great love and admiration for the franchise.
